Quality Improvement and Innovation Awards
The Canterbury DHB has a strong commitment to the provision of high quality health care services. We strive to ensure our services are safe, integrated, focused on evidence based best practice and are responsive to patient/consumer needs.
At the Canterbury DHB we believe that by practicing the principles of quality
throughout the organisation we will enhance the health care services we provide,
increase the job satisfaction of our staff and improve organisational
effectiveness.
The Corporate Quality and Risk team works closely with the
divisional quality teams to coordinate quality and risk management across the Canterbury DHB. The
team comprises of:

The Corporate Quality and Risk team facilitate several activities within the Canterbury DHB including:
In response to feedback from meetings between General Practitioners in the
Community and the Canterbury DHB Chief Medical Officer, Nigel Millar a ‘Quality
Line’ service has recently been established for GPs to contact the Canterbury
DHB to report any problems or issues relating to quality. The ‘Quality Line’
will be facilitated by the Corporate Quality and Risk team
at the Canterbury DHB and any correspondence received will be acted on
accordingly. Feedback will be given on any emails were action is required and
regular updates will be given, such as ‘how many GP’s have made contact’ and
‘the forms of action taken’.
