This Unit specialises in the treatment and rehabilitation for patients under 65 years of age who have suffered traumatic brain injuries - i.e. accidents, or strokes |
REHABILITATION |
The Spinal Unit provides specialised inpatient and outreach services for treating, reassessing and rehabilitating spinal cord injury patients. |

This rehabilitation service is for patients with bone injuries. The aim is to assist the patient to return to the level of independence prior to the injury |

The Burwood location hosts many other CDHB departments and services such as the Birthing Unit, Paediatric Therapy Centre, Low Vision Clinic, Public Health Nurses, Ranga Hauora and COSE
This is a regional centre established to assist people to cope with the effects of long term pain. |

Burwood is the CDHB's primary centre for elective orthopaedic surgery. A large number of the operations are for major joint replacements i.e. hips and knees, but all orthopaedic surgery is undertaken, including procedures paid for by ACC |
